First announced in April 2008, version 4.8 provides users with a customized, role-based dashboard and superior automation for improved security. Leveraging Sourcefire RNA’s innovative network discovery, the 3D System 4.8 delivers the industry’s first adaptive Intrusion Prevention capabilities.

The Sourcefire 3D System 4.8 provides users with the following key features and benefits:
 Customizable, role-based dashboard provides users with an easy-to-use, portal-like experience for monitoring security and compliance events.
 Automated SEU administration enables customers to take a “set it and forget it” stance on updating Snort rules by automating the process of downloading and applying new security enhancement updates, or SEUs.
 Adaptive IPS enhancements further automate the burdensome process of on-going IPS tuning while minimizing the potential for IPS evasions.
 Enhanced compliance capabilities assist organizations affected by regulatory compliance by offering the capability to assign read-only administrative access and monitor active concurrent user log ons.
 Improved packet-level forensics offers customers deeper application-level insight and understanding of the source and nature of an attack.
 RADIUS support leverages an organization’s existing RADIUS investment to manage user accounts, thus saving administration time.
 Usability enhancements simplify the installation and management of the Sourcefire 3D System.
