Ramesys secures its first primary school contract under UK Government's new Primary Capital Programme. Ramesys has reached financial close on a contract for Nottingham City Council to provide ICT services to one of the first primary school's to be built under the UK Government's £7 billion Primary Capital Programme.

Nottingham City Council was selected as one of 23 pathfinder local authorities to work with the Department for Children, Schools and Families, ahead of the national roll-out of the UK Government's Primary Strategy for Change, the funding for which was announced on 12 November 2008.

The new £13 million Southwark Primary School will be built on the infant and nursery school site in Bulwell Lane, Old Basford. It will be a state-of-the-art exemplar primary school catering for 630 children aged 5 to 11 and 90 children aged 3 to 5. Construction work will begin in January 2009 and the new school will open in March 2010.

The new school is being procured through the Local Education Partnership (LEP), "inspiredspaces limited", comprising Nottingham City Council, Carillion plc and Partnerships for Schools.

The LEP was established in June 2008 to provide eight new and refurbished secondary schools for Nottingham City Council, under a £208 million contract for the first-phase of Nottingham City Council's BSF programme, part of the UK Government's £45 billion BSF investment programme for secondary schools.

Ramesys Chief Executive, Mark Chambers said: “We are delighted to be working with the primary sector in Nottingham City now, as well as the secondary schools in the BSF Programme. It’s our home town and we feel passionate about our role here.”
