27 July 2010 – Concorde Informatics, the leading IT managed services provider, has announced the acquisition of its CARM Police Duty Management System by Northgate Public Services, for an undisclosed sum.
CARM, originally developed and marketed by Concorde, will be fully integrated with Northgate’s demand management services for UK police forces. CARM enables forces to manage their complex shift patterns, allowing them to ensure the right staff coverage to deliver responsive policing to the public at the right time.
CARM is used by more UK police forces than any other resource management system, with users including the Metropolitan Police, West Yorkshire Police and Merseyside Police. International users include the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
The solution provides complete resource management capability, including rostering by staff availability and skills, monitoring of shift patterns, overtime management and absence recording. This helps forces to deliver more effective policing using their available resources.
Colin Meakin, chief executive of Concorde Informatics said: “We are proud of the fact that CARM has become the de-facto police resource management system. Northgate Public Services is a leader in public safety solutions, and is ideally placed to further develop the solution and integrate it with its overall service offering.
“The sale of CARM will allow us to concentrate on developing our nationwide managed IT and security services portfolio.”
In May this year, Concorde acquired Control Key, a North West-based IT security specialist, and in 2009 also acquired Phase CRS Ltd. Concorde aims to continue to grow its business through acquisitions over the next 12 months, in particular in the South East, and is on target for £12 million turnover by 2012.
The business divestment advisors to Concorde were Marcus Armstrong of Lupton Fawcett Solicitors, and James White of Brown Butler Corporate Finance, both based in Leeds. Both organisations have worked closely with Concorde Excel Holdings Limited since the holding company was established by Colin Meakin and his consortium two years ago.
